Travelling Locally - Second Stop

The Purple Door
Day Spa
Pilot Point, Texas
A spa, me at a spa? I have had my toenails done ....once. And Alli, Lindi, and Will gave me a facial about 18 years ago, (that was before Micha was born). And I do get my hair cut when I can't stand it any longer.
But I'm pretty impatient about that sort of stuff. I can't help it. I blame growing up in the 60's.
We were about peace and love,

not make-up and hair color.
However, when my friend and kindred spirit, Chrystel, gave me the gift of a pedicure, I knew if she liked it, I would probably like it, too. When I saw the word "spa" on the door, I'll admit I was a little intimidated.
But somehow in Pilot Point, Texas I felt at ease.  They were so welcoming and made the visit a pure pleasure.

The Purple Door is small town Texas at its best.  The turn of the century building on the historic square was originally a general store. When Bobbi was growing up it was her mother's beauty shop.  It has served several other purposes since then.  Bobbi wanted the building to return to its former tradition,
.

with a level of luxury I feel sure was not there in the 60s.

The service at the Purple door illustrates a very important aspect of shopping small and local, whether it is in Pilot Point, Memphis, or here at home. They really do go above and beyond expectations.  I have found this to be true over and over again.

And Gwen certainly reinforced those experiences.
An hour, an entire hour, was spent in a quiet room with soft music and dim lights.  And I was never bored!

Soaking, massaging with tingly lotion, wrapping with hot steamy towels, rubbing with hot stones, tightly wrapping in hot steamy towels again, and massaging with lotion again! Then immersing both feet in this amazing warm paraffin.  And then they painted toenails. I've been told the price for this was about the same as just having toenails done, elsewhere.

I know you may not be in Pilot Point anytime soon, but maybe there is a friendly little spa right here in St. Louis or surrounding area just waiting to be discovered.
